Yogi feasts on Indian tapas
There’s nothing quite like feasting at the latest foodie hot spots and we couldn’t be happier about having one incredible restaurant as our client and that is the multi-award winning Purple Poppadom.
Based in Canton, Cardiff, Chef Anand George and the team have done it again by adding a fantastic twist to Indian cuisine with their new tapas menu which you can enjoy every Wednesday evening at the restaurant. Our Yogi Communications team headed over to try the ‘Tapas Wednesdays’ evening menu!
We were lucky enough to try their small plates of delights and of course our love of food meant that we ordered everything off the tapas menu to share.
We found it hard to pick a favourite but a few of the stand out dishes were the squid porichathu in a beautifully spiced light batter, Kochi chicken roasted wings topped with a delicious tangy tamarind sauce and spices, the chilli pork which was stir fried with peppers, onions and spices and not forgetting the ‘nanza’, a leavened bread topped with spiced lamb mince and cheese…so you could describe it as a mini Indian pizza!
Our mouths are actually watering writing this and we can’t wait until our next visit. This time, we might try the ‘Thali Thursdays’ night where each week a platter of food are presented on a cool steel plate with several compartments for different dishes.
Each week, the chefs at Purple Poppadom will be reflecting on the different regions of India so you can enjoy a range of tastes, flavours and styles of cuisine from around India.
We hear that next week, Thursday 29th, is the Goan thali so sure that’s going to be another reason to visit Purple Poppadom – perfect way to get ready for the Easter weekend!

If you’re wondering what to do on the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, we recommend a visit to the pop up Street Food Circus at Roath Yard for their Food Brawl event. Chef Anand George’s Tukka Tuk mobile street food van will be there from Friday 30th – Sunday 1st April serving up his exciting Indian street food along with some other great vendors!
Next we’ll be heading to Bar Saint James, Uplands, Swansea to try their afternoon tea and lunch menu!
