Our Creative Director Simon has been following cycling for years and is no stranger to chatting to some of the big wigs (or Wiggos) along the way. Nevertheless, there’s no doubt he has a favourite, which is why Simon joined the spectacular homecoming in Cardiff to give Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas a big Welsh welcome!

“For the last 10 years I have followed cycling around the world from London and Cardiff to Paris, Naples and Belgium.” said Simon. “It’s always an exciting sport to watch with many stories to tell of racing, crashes and hero breakaways. Over the years I have regularly bumped into the heroes of cycling including Boardman, Wiggo and Froomey, but one who has always stood out the most is Wales’ very own Geraint Thomas, ‘G’. The welshman who is at home riding the rolling hills of Wales and high mountains and old cobbles of northern France.”

“I’m a keen cycling photographer and have managed to capture the speed and character of G in many locations over the years. From the London 2012 Olympics, the cobbles of Paris Roubaix, to the National Championships in Celtic Manor. With his white Jawbone glasses always an iconic image.

“It’s been a great year for cycling and I, myself, have completed my own personal challenge. At the beginning of August I rode 100 miles in the Prudential Ride London after recovering from Guillain Barré Syndrome earlier this year. I raised money for GAIN charity which helps and supports medical professionals and sufferers of this chronic condition.

“It was a wet, windy and long but above all, great fun! It was fab to ride back the london roads without traffic and pick up the medal at the end, especially as I dreamt this ride up whilst lying in my hospital bed. What a year!”
