Purple Poppadom

Established in 2011, Purple Poppadom Indian restaurant is located in the bustling Canton near Cardiff city centre. Their love of real Indian food with a modern twist has resulted in many awards and reviews in national media. These include the Best South Asian Restaurant in the UK, the Observer Food Monthly awards, The Michelin Guide, The Good Food Guide and Best Restaurant and Indian Restaurant in the South Wales Echo Food & Drink Awards.

The Brief

Yogi is responsible for launching, building and maintaining the profile of award-winning Indian restaurant Purple Poppadom in Cardiff.

Seven years ago, Chef Anand George appointed Yogi to help him bring the first fine dining Indian cuisine experience in Wales. We have worked with Purple Poppadom ever since, handling all aspects of PR, marketing, branding, design and social media.

What We Did

Thanks to our integrated communications strategy, Purple Poppadom and chef Anand George have enjoyed extensive national media coverage including daily nationals, high profile food critics and bloggers, UK-wide radio features and TV appearances including the BBC’s Curry Wars, where Anand appeared as a judge.

With Yogi’s support, Purple Poppadom has featured in everything from the Good Food Guide to the Michelin Guide and won over 20 awards.

Yogi prides itself on keeping the restaurant’s profile high by continuously developing and delivering creative campaigns and concepts. This keeps things fresh for customers and the media, always offering a new reason to visit or feature the restaurant.

These include launching Wales’ first ever pop-up restaurant with Anand (now a very popular concept!), opening a cookery school, introducing Indian tapas to the UK market, launching Anand’s first cookbook, bringing Indian street food concept to life with the restaurant’s van Tukka Tuk and recent events such as the Gin Festival ‘Spirit’.

Results

We like to think that high profile Purple Poppadom and Anand George, is not just down to the superb food, and that we have played our part as messengers to the wider public about the delicacies Anand and his team create!

Under our social media management, the restaurant now enjoys an enviable 11,0000 plus Twitter followers.
