Anand George Launches Debut Cookery Book

Our multi-award winning client and culinary genius, Anand George, founder of Cardiff’s Purple Poppadom restaurant, has published his long awaited debut cookery book. Featuring sixty detailed recipes, the book entitled “The 5000 Mile Journey” reveals the inspirations behind the chef’s innovative take on Indian cuisine which have won him countless culinary accolades.

Charting his culinary journey from his a childhood in Kerala to fine dining restaurants in London and Cardiff via the luxury hotels of India. The book features a wide range of dishes, from the homestyle coastal cooking of Kerala, to street food dishes inspired by chef’s frequent travels to major Indian cities, progressing to the new contemporary twist on traditional Indian cuisine which he pioneered at Purple Poppadom.

“Although I am always striving to innovate, the foundations of everything I do lie in the culinary inspirations I have picked up during my 5,000 mile journey from India to the UK. Compiling my first book has been a fascinating experience, taking me back down my own memory lane to revisit these inspirations, and charting the historic influences which created Keralan cuisine.
